Volleyball Returns to SLC

Kingston, ON — St. Lawrence College opened a new chapter in school history this week, hosting Fleming in the women’s and men’s volleyball first-ever varsity games and home opener.

“This was a truly special night for our college,” said Kevin Biggs, Manager of Athletics & Student Engagement.

“To see our volleyball programs take the court for the first time as varsity was incredibly meaningful. This group has worked hard to build something new, and tonight was a celebration of that effort and the bright future ahead for Surge Athletics.”

In the women’s game, the Surge defeated the Fleming Phoenix in straight sets 3-0 (28-8, 25-13, 25-14).

Lize Freundorfer led the way offensively, recording a team-high nine kills, while also contributing three service aces, ten digs, and a block in an all-around performance. Jayden Britt added seven kills and twelve digs, providing leadership and consistency at both the net and in the backcourt.

Defensively, Isabella Smith-Nuhijaj anchored the back row with a team-leading eighteen digs, demonstrating poise and control throughout the match.

On the men’s side, the Phoenix blanked the Surge 3-0 (14-25, 25-27, 17-25), but the team fought hard, forcing the second set into extras.

Adrien Feuillat led the way with eight kills, four service aces, and eleven digs, contributing in all phases of play for a team-high 13 points. Peyton George added six kills, two aces, and eleven digs, while Riley Murray chipped in five kills and nine digs.

The teams are back in action at Loyalist College this Wednesday October 29th.
