Ball scores again to lift Surge to OCAA Championship

Surge men’s soccer is off to the OCAA Championship after beating Lambton 4-1 in the cross-over qualifier on Saturday.

The game, originally slated to be against Niagara, was swapped to Lambton after an end of season eligibility crisis involving multiple teams – not St. Lawrence.  The mix-up caused a few ranking changes, including bumping SLC from 3rd to 2nd and subsequently moved their opponent from Niagara to Lambton.

The rival swap paid dividends for the Surge as they controlled much of Saturday’s game against the travelling Lions.

Rookie and team leading scorer, Jacob Ball, notched his 13th and 14th goals of the season in the win, while fellow rookie Aidan Proderick scored his first of his college career. Veteran Kiarash Ayoubi added the other. Lambton’s Ernest Awuah put the Lions on the board after a weird bouncing ball was lost in the sun on SLC keeper Brayden Martin.

Surge heads to Toronto for the OCAA Championship hosted by Humber where they’ll take on Fanshawe this Wednesday in an early 10am start.
