St. Lawrence honouring Black History together with Centennial on February 2
St. Lawrence College will be honouring Black history in many ways this year, including a special double-header varsity basketball games on February 2nd, 2024 at 6pm and 8pm against Centennial College Colts on the Kingston campus. Both games (and parking) are free for SLC employees, students, and community members.
In honour of Black History and Futures Month, we are amplifying voices, committing to solidarity, and learning. Fans will have the opportunity to learn more about significant contributions of Black Canadians, participate in activities, and explore local Black-owned businesses.
You can further communicate the message of ‘honouring Black history together’ by wearing a special-edition Black History Month t-shirt, which will be available in limited supply and worn by the Surge and Colts varsity basketball teams.
This special night will begin at 5:30pm and will feature music from Black Canadian artists, a live Canadian anthem sung by Kyra Daniel, intermission trivia and giveaways, including the $1,000 shoot-for-cash and other half-time games, select vendors on the upper-concourse for fans and staff to check out and learn about, photos with the Surge mascot, and more.
Students and employees can earn extra Surge Rewards points by registering to attend the games for free on URSLC. Registration is NOT required to attend and participate.

More about Kyra Daniel:
Kyra is a 14 year old singer and songwriter who recently toured across North America. She is currently a regular anthem singer for the Toronto Raptors, Toronto Marlies, and Belleville Senators. Kyra will be singing the Canadian Anthem at the NBA Rising All-Stars game Indianapolis (Indiana) on February 16th during the NBA All-Star Weekend.
